In a breathtaking showcase of cultural magnificence, Ayodhya, the revered city in Uttar Pradesh, has once again secured its place in the illustrious Guinness World Records. The recent Deepotsav celebrations witnessed Ayodhya accomplishing the extraordinary feat of illuminating over 2.2 million lamps simultaneously at a single location, seizing global attention and establishing a new Guinness World Record.
The festivities, graced by the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other distinguished guests, featured a symbolic chariot procession. This procession showcased artists portraying the return of deities Ram, Sita, and Lakshman after 14 years of exile. During the event, Chief Minister Adityanath extended Diwali greetings, expressing his heartfelt wish that the festival of lights would bring joy to the lives of every underprivileged individual. He emphasized the profound significance of Diwali, a celebration marking Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya, the eradication of negative forces, and the establishment of Ramrajya.
Buoyed by this triumph, Ayodhya now sets its sights on a new world record, with ambitious plans to illuminate 24 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) at 51 ghats during the upcoming Deepotsav event. The program, scheduled to commence at 3 pm and inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, involves the participation of 25,000 volunteers in lighting the lamps. The Guinness Book of World Records team will employ drone cameras to ensure an accurate count, adding a modern touch to this traditional spectacle.

The meticulous preparations for Deepotsav’s security include the strategic division of the area into 14 police zones and the integration of Artificial Intelligence to regulate crowds and traffic. The event is expected to be graced by the presence of nearly all cabinet ministers of the Uttar Pradesh government.
Recalling the previous year’s Deepotsav, which witnessed the lighting of over 15 lakh diyas by more than 20,000 volunteers along the banks of the river Sarayu, Ayodhya continues to shine bright, earning its place in the Guinness World Records. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, receiving a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records, extended warm greetings to Ayodhya and its residents.
Since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assumed power in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, Deepotsav has evolved into a significant annual event. Each passing year sees a growth in the number of lit lamps, transforming the celebration into more than just a cultural extravaganza. It stands as a testament to the spirit of unity, festivity, and the rich heritage of Ayodhya. As the city continues to radiate brilliance, it extends a heartfelt invitation to the world to partake in the luminous spectacle of Deepotsav.
